Is it safe to install Java?

 I am prompted to download and install Java Plug - in 12.4.1. Is this safe to do?

Depends. The legitimate java plug-in is safe to install, but some websites use fake pop-up windows to trick you into downloading software that isn't actually java. You can download java from http://java.com/en/.
