With John Wick 4 currently flying high at the box office; the mainstream, big budget action film is in rude health.We all know the accepted classics of the genre( Die Hard, The Terminator, John Wick Franchise, The Matrix, The Raid, 90’s John Woo ect…) but what are some under the radar or under appreciated gems of the genre?For example nowadays Steven Seagal is possibly the most ridiculed actor on the planet but people forget he has actually made a handful of very solid films. Out For Justice, Marked For Death and of course Under Siege are all very decent action films that are well worth watching for the uninitiated.I’ll start the ball rolling with the much more respected modern action star Jason Statham. Everybody knows The Transporter, Fast and Furious, Crank and Expendables franchises but you very rarely hear anything about his 2012 action film Safe. Don’t get me wrong this is no forgotten masterpiece but it is stylish and interesting enough to stand out from the mass of generic action fare consistently produced.What is your favourite lesser known action film?
