Jaws has always been firmly in my top spot of all time favorite movies. But as I’ve aged and had a chance to rewatch Alien…I’m just amazed at how well crafted it is. The practical effects are phenomenal. Everything about it feels real. The story makes sense. Masterclass of tension and pace. The characters (minus the casualness with which the eggs are first approached in the ship) all are reacting as I think they should given the insanity of the situation. It’s really close to a flawless execution. I just keeping coming back to it every so often thinking like maybe it won’t hold up. But it seems to do better. Amazing.
