Average Dirt Bike Cost (With 31 Prices of New and Used Bikes)

If you’re looking in the market for a new dirt bike, whether it’s your first bike or you’re fifth, it’s always a good idea to check out what the average prices for dirt bikes are currently.

The best dirt bikes by popular companies cost on average around $8,000-$9,000. Used bikes being sold depreciate about $1,000 for every year of their age; for example, a 2016 dirt bike worth about $8,000 new would be worth about $4,000 now, depending on how well the previous owner cared for the bike.

New Dirt Bikes

New dirt bikes are quite a bit more expensive than used ones, but if you’ve got the cash saved up, there’s nothing else that beats the quality of a new bike with zero miles.

Let’s get a little more in-depth about these bikes and what comes with those thousands-of-dollars price tags.

1. Beta 125 RR

Beta is a dirt bike company from Italy that has grown super popular throughout Europe and in motocross in general.

The new 2019 Beta 125 RR model is one of Beta’s smaller bikes (as far as cc goes), but it’s got some great kick for a great price at $7,999 new.

What’s Great About this Model?

One great thing about the Beta 125 RR bike is that it is super light; thus it’s easy to handle. Lighter bikes are generally a good place to start for anyone who is a beginner to dirt biking, but this bike would also be great for those who just want less bulk and faster acceleration.

Another great feature of this model is the Sun and Rain modes. The Rain mode helps the bike give you the best performance when trail riding because of the lower rpm and short shifting. The Sun mode is geared for midrange and top-end for faster performance.

Both of these modes coupled with the bike’s lightweight and easy control provide something for everyone for different adventures.

2. GasGas XC200

The GasGas XC200 is one of the lighter bikes on the market–weighing at just 220 pounds (100 kilograms)–but with a bit more power than other bikes with lower cc. It comes at a price of $7,999 new and packs some big bang for your buck.

What’s Great About this Model?

This new 2019 model is full of all kinds of great updates that are sure to stop riders in their tracks and jump on this fantastic, Enduro machine.

Included on this bike are strong Kayaba suspension, Kehin carburetor, a Magura clutch pump, and Excel wheel rims. True to their commitment to providing excellent bike quality, GasGas has updated the electrical system with a new starter and a battery system with greater charge capacity.

GasGas has done a fantastic job in updating this bike in order to improve the bike’s quality and performance. If you want to find more information about this bike, you can find more details at Woodside Motor Sport’s website here.

3. Honda CRF250R

Honda is one of the biggest dirt bike makers out there, and the CRF250R is one of their more popular bikes. Priced at $7,999 new, the 2019 model has some amazing improvements that build on the bike’s overall performance compared its predecessors.

What’s Great About this Model?

Honda has made some new adjustments to this model, including a new cam profile for better low-end performance, and a shortened right-side exhaust pipe for better top-end performance.

Another amazing aspect of this model is how easy it is to control and turn around tight bends. Because of its easy steering, this bike can be a little twitchy on rough parts of the track. I’d say that’s not a deal-breaker with this bike’s fantastic performance, but just something to be aware of when riding this great machine.

4. Husqvarna TE150

Husqvarna has done a fantastic job at keeping this bike lightweight and nimble. At about $8,500 new, the Husqvarna TE 150 is an excellent bike for Enduro racing and trail riding.

What’s Great About this Model?

One of the great aspects of this bike is the engine. Besides being a top of the line two-stroke, the engine does an awesome job at centralizing the mass, which provides great riding abilities and less rider fatigue.

The bike’s superior ergonomics offers excellent comfort for riders for many hours of hard riding. The frame of the bike itself is also extraordinarily light, with the subframe being made of 30% carbon fiber.

5. Kawasaki KX250

Kawasaki is another dirt bike company that makes exceptional machines. At about $7,800, the Kawasaki KX250 is a great, lightweight bike with great capabilities.

What’s Great About this Model?

The Kawasaki KX250 has awesome low-end power and easy handling while out riding. The easy handling has partly to do with its lightweight of 221 pounds, and it has a whole lot to do with the bike’s narrowness.

If you are hesitant to consider narrow bikes, I’d definitely say give the Kawasaki KX250 a chance if you’re looking for a bike that’s easy to maneuver.

Keeping the bike’s lightness and mobility in mind, the KX250 is a little sensitive to rough spots in tracks; as such, you may want to adjust your riding style a little bit to accommodate for a gem of a bike.

6. KTM 250SX-F

KTM is a European company that is also one of the top motocross bike companies out there. Priced at about $9,000 new, the KTM 250SX-F is an awesome bike with tons of power.

What’s Great About this Model?

The KTM 250SX-F 2019 model has been designed with a lightweight polyethylene gas tank for overall improved ergonomics. The bike holds about 1.85 gallons of fuel for heavy racing and endurance.

This year’s model also includes a resonator, which was previously only available on the 450 bikes, is integrated more fully into the pipe. This provides increased engine performance and less noise because of the slimmer exhaust.

With these and other great features, the KTM 250SX-F is sure to surpass your expectations.

7. Sherco SC 125 Cross Country

Sherco dirt bikes offer great performance, and this year’s line up is exceptionally lighter than last year’s. The Sherco SC 125 Cross Country model is no different. Priced at about $8,600, the SC 125 Cross Country bike is an awesome option for fun on the trails.

What’s Great About this Model?

The Sherco SC 125 Cross Country bike is considered a little heavier than other 125 cc bikes, but it maintains excellent mobility that is great for trail riding.

Another great feature that can come in handy on the trails is the bike’s ability to pull itself back if you fall below the powerband. This is an especially great feature in my eyes when you’re riding on trails that can be unpredictable.

8. Yamaha YZ250F

Yamaha is a Japanese dirt bike company with an excellent reputation for designing fantastic bikes with great performance. The Yamaha YZ250F, priced at about $8,200 new, is a brand new model that’s been updated form the bottom up.

What’s Great About this Model?

The new Yamaha YZ250F is designed with symmetrical intake and exhaust ports, a stronger connecting rod, and a new counterbalancer to provide the bike with better ability to handle midrange and up-end power.

Yamaha has also equipped this bike with some awesome technological addition, namely the engine tuning capabilities. Riders can now sync up their smartphones with the bike’s engine, allowing them to easily adjust the air/fuel mixture.

If you’re looking with a bike with lots of power, strength, and spice, this just might be the bike for you. Worth looking into, don’t you think? You can find more information about it on Yamaha’s website here.

9. Beta 250RR

Here’s another great dirt bike from Beta. The Beta 250 RR bike weighs about 229 pounds, so it’s just a little heavier than the 125cc but provides more power out on the trails. Priced at about $8,700, this bike is an awesome choice for riders wanting more speed during their rides.

What’s Great About this Bike?

The Beta 250 RR has a completely new frame that is designed to be both lighter and stronger. A contributor to the frame’s lightweight is the redesigned ZF Sachs rear shock that is now 300 grams lighter than previous versions.

This model also includes electronic oil injection, so you can avoid the mess that comes with pre-mixing the fuel. The system also electronically regulates the oil flow for the different throttle positions, and it decreases smoke by more than 50%.

Beta has definitely added some great features on this bike. If you want to look into further details about the Beta 250 RR, you can find it on Beta’s website here.

10. GasGas TXT250 Racing

The GasGas TXT250 Racing bike has by far one of the most unique aesthetic looks for a dirt bike that I have seen. But it’s unique, sleek appearance isn’t all that this bike’s got to offer. Priced at about $7,900, the TXT 250 Racing model has awesome reliability and performance.

What’s Great About this Model?

GasGas has done a complete redesign of this bike’s swingarm, and this model includes a progressive linkage system. The swingarm and the links combined add to the bike’s overall stability and traction at the rear.

The bike has also been designed with new kevlar clutch discs that improve the overall performance of the engine. GasGas has also included a simple cover over the clutch disc that is easy to remove when it’s time to replace the clutch discs.

If you want to learn more in-depth information about the GasGas TXT250 RAcing bike and see pictures, you can find it on GasGas’ website here.

11. Honda CRF250RX

Here’s another great model from Honda, that is similar to the CRF250R, but with a few unique features that make this bike worthy of respect on its own. Priced at about $8,300 new, the Honda CFR250RX is a great bike for any riding, but most especially for trail riding.

What’s Great About this Model?

The Honda CRF250RX is a bit heavier than it’s cousin, weighing about 244 pounds of wet weight, but the build gives the bike a lighter feel that’s easier to control. The light chassis aids in the overall feel and makes pivoting off obstacles on the trails and switching up lines easy to do.

The way you steer this bike changes a little bit depending on the mode, but once you pick up on the slight changes, you’ll soon feel comfortable handling this bike without a problem.

This bike’s clutch is also super reliable and not likely to give out or stall the bike. Along with that, the overall ergonomics of this model is supreme. Everything is where you expect it to be so you don’t have to worry too much about adjusting to a new position to find the pedals or clutch.

12. Husqvarna FC250

Although the Husqvarna FC250 is similar in appearance as the 450 Rockstar editions, the FC250 has a powerful punch in the undertones of this bike. Priced at about $9,000, the Husqvarna has totally new updates in the frame and engine.

What’s Great About this Model?

The Husqvarna FC250 bike is designed to be lightweight and powerful on the motocross track. The 57.5 lb (26.1 kg) engine’s components have been installed closer together in order to reduce rotational inertia on the bike. Despite the engine’s lightweight, it gives an output of 46 hp.

The model’s frame is another impressive feature that is geared to improve the bike’s overall performance. 30% of the frame is composed of carbon fiber, which is a material known for its lightweight and incredible strength.

Altogether, this bike is built for lightweight, speed, and power on the track. You can find more detailed information about this particular model on Hall’s Cycles’ website here.

13. Kawasaki KX450

The designers at Kawasaki have really outdone themselves with the KX450 model. Priced at about $9,300, this bike is a completely new design compared to other Kawasaki bikes. It is even declared to be better than 2018’s KX450F by test riders all around.

What’s Great About this Model?

AS far as the chassis goes, the 2019 Kawasaki KX450 has an entirely new front brake master cylinder and has a rear brake rotor that’s increased in size from 240mm to 250mm.

While being extremely responsive to steering due to the cast aluminum parts on the bike, the Kawasaki KX450 is also extremely stable for those rough sections fo the track. This stability is created through the adjustable peg and handlebar mounts.

The Kawasaki KX450 is a powerful bike with equally powerful features worth looking into.

14. KTM 250XC

KTM has come up with some awesome new updates for this higher-powered model–the 250 XC. Priced at about $9,400, the KTM 250 XC model is a powerful machine that definitely gives you some bang for your buck.

What’s Great About this Model?

The 2019 KTM 250 XC model has an updated frame that contributes to greater handling and straight-line stability while riding. These aspects are especially important on a track or trail with unexpected divets and rough spots.

The bike also has a newly designed airbox and air boot that aids in protecting the air filter against soiling; as such, it improves the bike’s overall performance

To top that all off, the KTM 250 Sc has a stronger and lighter lithium-ion battery for optimum performance and better starting.

Really, there’s so much to this bike, that I really suggest taking a closer look at it yourself. You can find more information about this bike on KTM’s website here.

The Sherco SE 300 Racing bike can be found at about $9,300. More information about this model can be found from Sherco’s website here.

One of the biggest improvements for this model is the lighter materials and design. The 2019 model has improved handlebar position that saves 400 grams of weight compared to the 2018 model.

The 2019 Sherco SE 300 Racing also includes Neken triple clamps that are 90 grams lighter than the previous model.

Sherco has also made major improvements to the bikes overall flexibility, making it a better bike for the topsy-turvy trails in an enduro race.

The increased chassis flex on this model keeps most of the impact in the lower part of the bike instead of transferring to the rider’s hands. The bike also has a re-routed wiring harness for increased flexibility and protection, making the ride easier on you as the rider and on the bike itself.

16. Yamaha YZ450F

The Yamaha YZ450F 2019 model has little changes from the 2018 model, but it remains a reliable bike with awesome features for any motocross race. Priced at about $9,300, this bike is packed with awesome quality for the buck.

What’s Great About this Model?

Yamaha has added some excellent features to this bike that make it an excellent choice for motocross races.

The chassis and seat on this bike have improved to be more comfortable and supportive while riding. The seat foam density has increased in order to give the rider a more comfortable feel in the seated position while out riding.
