So, each person is blessed with their own amount of hair growth each month which is relatively consistent. In addition, each person’s genes control how long the root will hold the strand of hair before it drops out and a new one starts forming. This is why some people can grow hair to their ankles, full and lush, whereas other have trouble with scraggly ends when their hair hits mid-back.


As an example, mine only growth about a half inch a month and tends to fall out and start over after 10 or so inches (25.4 cm). My daughters hair is very thick and grows 2″ (5.08 cm) a month and doesn’t fall out until it is about 30″ (76.2 cm), hitting her lower hips over a relatively short time. This is genetic. Your 15 cm, which is almost 6″ for me, is relatively easy with regard to the lifespan of a strand of hair, but depending on each individual, can take 3 to 12 months to achieve, depending on how fast your hair grows.


You can control total growth on a nominal basis through healthy eating, since your hair and nails are some of the last parts of your body that get the nutrients you eat (since hair is dead and the follicle is what is being fed). So eat to feed your scalp. Additionally, since the hair is dead, no nutrients from your food will add to it’s “health” (only your scalp and oil health) and what you do to care for your hair it is the main issue then.


That said, hair will grow from 1/2″ (1.27 cm) to 2″ (5.08 CM) per month, depending on the person, as a norm. The 3–12 months listed above is based on that. Measure the length of your hair on a set day of the month and then measure it again in a month to see what YOUR average is. Divide the length you want with what you discover for your own hair. And then do what you can to prevent the damage that will cause the ends to break off at the same speed as it grows as it gets longer. Longer hair has more weakened ends as they are older and more “abused” but what you do to your hair.

You also want to trim the ends to cut off hair splits before they continue to pull apart running up the hair shaft. Thus, cutting will make your hair grow longer. Just be sure to only blunt cut straggly or split ends.


And then, there is the other factor you have little control on. That is how long your volume of hair will grow before your scalp releases the strand and starts a new one. There is not a lot you can do to overcome that, but you can do some things to increase how many get to the longest length for your genes by taking care of what is there. Nutritional and blood circulation health to your scalp will create healthier hair shafts (the actual “thread” of your hair strand), so eat healthy and after detangling, brush your scalp 100 strokes a day. Then do what you can about preventing damage after the hair leaves the scalp. Over my many years, I have found that by doing so, I can get another 2 or 3 inches out of more of my hair instead of having a few stragglers hang down to show me what could have been. Those stragglers represent what could have been with good care.


I don’t know if you have interest in dying or perming your long hair for a specific style, but doing so damages the hair shaft and since it is dead to begin with, that is permanent. Hair products only add chemicals to that damaged shaft so that it appears more silky and healthy. It does not cause “growth” in the width of the actual hair shaft, since it can’t “grow”. Some products can make clearing tangles easier to prevent breakage when combing your hair, though.

In other cases, thinning hair is triggered by something going on inside the body — for instance, a thyroid problem, a shift in hormones, a recent pregnancy, or an inflammatory condition.


Hair loss may also be genetic. The most common genetic condition is known as female-pattern hair loss, or androgenic alopecia. Women with this condition might notice a widening of the part at the top of the head, often beginning when a woman is in her 40s or 50s. You might experience this if you inherit certain genes from one or both parents. Hormonal shifts that occur during menopause may also spur it.


Another trigger for hair loss in women is an inflammatory condition affecting the scalp. That might be eczema, psoriasis, or a condition called frontal fibrosing alopecia, which typically causes scarring and hair loss — sometimes permanent — at the front of the scalp above the forehead.


Other common causes of hair loss include overuse of damaging hair products, or tools such as dryers and other devices that heat the hair. Underlying illness, autoimmune conditions such as lupus, nutritional deficiencies, or hormonal imbalances may also cause hair to shed.


Medications to treat hair loss

Treatment depends on the underlying cause, says Dr. Scott. Sometimes simply addressing a medical condition prompting hair loss will be enough for the hair to regrow. In other instances, a woman might consider a medication like minoxidil (Rogaine), which helps with certain types of hair loss, or another treatment to replace or regrow lost hair.


A newer option being used to treat hair loss is platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections. For this treatment, the doctor draws your blood, divides it into its separate components, recombines the blood fluid (plasma) with a high concentration of platelets (structures in the blood that help with clotting, among other functions), and introduces the resulting preparation back into the scalp.

Cosmetic options for hair loss

When medical treatments fall short, women can also consider cosmetic options to make up for lost hair, such as wearing a wig. At the other end of the spectrum is hair transplantation, a surgical procedure that moves active follicles from the back of the scalp to areas where the hair is thinning. Once transplanted, the hair grows normally.


Hair transplantation is typically performed as an outpatient surgical procedure. In appropriate patients, it can be extremely successful, but it won’t work for everyone, says Dr. Scott. One drawback is the expense: it can cost thousands of dollars and is not covered by insurance. The procedure also requires recovery time. And it may not be appropriate for women who have diffuse thinning across the whole scalp. It’s more effective in treating smaller, more defined areas of balding.

If you have dark hair that turns green after splashing in the pool, you’re not imagining it. It’s commonly seen among blondes because the color contrasts on light hair. However, anyone can have issues with the old, damaged ends of long hair turning green in the pool. The complex chemical reaction that causes hair to develop a green film after swimming can suck the fun out of the best summertime activity! Green hair isn’t inevitable, and it’s not permanent. Try these easy ways to prevent your hair from turning green or wash the color out after it happens.


IT’S A NATURAL CHEMICAL REACTION

Many people believe that it’s chlorine that turns hair green. Chlorine plays a part, but the pool chemical powerhouse doesn’t do the job all by itself. Other common causes are algae and heavy metals like copper and magnesium; both appear in swimming pool water. The reaction occurs when one or more substances meet the proteins in your hair.


If your pool water looks a bit green, your hair will too. Low levels of algae can stick to the outer shaft of the hair, giving it a green sheen. However, the most popular algaecides are copper-based, meaning your hair might still turn green. That’s because copper and chlorine bond together to form a film that sticks to the proteins in your strands of hair. The good news is that the green film isn’t permanent, just annoying.  


PREVENT YOUR HAIR FROM TURNING GREEN AFTER SWIMMING

As with most issues, it’s easier to prevent green hair with a few simple steps than to treat it afterward. Always shampoo and condition your hair after a day poolside. The longer you leave chemicals on your hair, the more damage they can do.


In your backyard pool, you can prevent the onset of green hair with properly balanced chemicals. Well-maintained water inhibits the growth of algae. If the water develops algae anyway, avoid using copper-based algaecides to keep copper levels low.


Unfortunately, you might not be in charge of chemical maintenance. An easy way to limit the amount of chemical-laden water absorbed by your hair is to drench it with clean water before diving in the deep end. That’s right, those signs that say, “shower first” are actually there for your benefit. Don’t get in the pool with dry hair. Instead, soak your hair with clean water before going for a splash, and chemicals won’t hang on as tightly. Even better, apply a leave-in conditioner after soaking but before leaping off the diving board. The conditioner helps seal out chemicals.  


REMOVE GREEN FROM YOUR HAIR AFTER SWIMMING

If you’re already feeling a bit green, try one of the following remedies to see what works. One might work better for you than another because of the chemicals involved. The standard solution behind these at-home remedies is using a weak household acid to strip color.  Always shampoo and condition your hair thoroughly after using any of these remedies. If you have color-treated hair, consult your hairstylist for advice before attempting these solutions.


Common foods like tomatoes and lemons contain ascorbic acid (aka vitamin C). It’s the same chlorine-neutralizing ingredient you’ll find in Swim Spray. Try rinsing your hair with tomato juice and let it sit for 5-10 minutes, or coat your hair with ketchup and let it sit for 30 minutes. If you don’t have tomato juice, you can cut up a few fresh lemons and soak your hair in lemon juice for 15-20 minutes. Another common household remedy uses Acetylsalicylic acid, commonly known as aspirin.  Just like you wear swim goggles to protect your eyes while swimming, wear eye protection while applying any of these at-home solutions. Crush about eight tablets, then add warm water to the powder to dissolve into a solution. Dip your hair in the bowl and gently wrap your hair in a towel or shower cap. Let the solution sit for 15-20 minutes before rinsing thoroughly—shampoo and condition as usual afterward.

AVOID BRASSINESS IN YOUR COLOUR

In order to avoid brassiness in your colouring it is important to understand how going blonde works. When adding a lighter permanent hair colour to your own darker colour, the permanent colour does two things: it lightens and lifts out your own colour and it replaces your colour with new artificial pigments. In this process warm colours will be pulled out in your hair and, the darker your own hair is, the more warmth will appear. This is where the brassiness becomes visible. The perfect blonde should be achieved in a balance of cool and warm tones in your permanent colouring, because the cool tones will even out the warm tones in your own hair.


If you are a dark brunette I would recommend that you see a colourist for your blonde transformation.


Going from a darker to a lighter colour is only one of many things that can cause brassiness. Other things to look out for are shampoos with sulfates, ocean water and sun exposure as well as products that contain silicone or parabens.


THINGS YOU CAN DO TO AVOID BRASSINESS AT HOME:

There is one way to minimize brassiness that might seem odd to you at first. It has the same effect as a purple shampoo. You can use tomato sauce, made on only water and tomatoes. You add the sauce to dry hair, wrap it in aluminum foil and leave it on for 20-25 min. Then rinse out and wash your hair as normal. This trick will make hair less brassy and increase shine too, without damaging freshly coloured locks.

A drastic transformation takes time. If you want to go from a dark colour to a perfect blonde it can take months to get the perfect result. I recommend you take your time and consult a colourist.

Keep your hair healthy. Healthy hair is less likely to go brassy. Make sure you take good care of your hair and use products containing silk such as NATURIGIN Colour Care Conditioner.

Misty, whom I emailed with the subject line “MY HAIR IS GREEN!!!!,” suggested clarifying shampoo, apple cider vinegar or clear dish soap to strip some of the green. But I had none of that on hand, and I was headed to a place deep in the woods of Maine where I couldn’t even find a copy of Vogue, let alone clarifying shampoo. Ketchup, the theory goes, works to neutralize green hair because green and red are opposites on the color wheel and therefore cancel each other out, kind of like putting a green-tinted concealer on an angry red blemish. I saw enough photographic evidence online to convince myself that it looked plausible enough to try, with Misty's blessing.


I took out the jumbo bottle of Heinz I had in the fridge and squirted it on my head, then massaged it in. Let me tell you, there’s nothing more mentally disgusting than cold, gooey ketchup all over your head. After covering my head with plastic wrap, I headed out to my back yard to sit and sniff the bracing Maine sea air for 30 minutes in an attempt to minimize the overwhelming smell of ketchup emanating from my head:

I’m going to share with you a quick method to get rid of the green staining with just a few ingredients that you probably already have.

You will need:

Bleach powder

Shampoo

Gloves

Tint bowl or other non-metallic bowl

Tint brush

To demonstrate the problem, I’ve dyed this piece of hair with Manic Panic’s Deep Purple Dream and then bleached the lower half. It’s a beautiful dark violet colour, and like many purples, it goes green/blue when you bleach it. You can see the original purple at the top, and the colour change after bleaching.

Easy Way to Remove Green Staining: Getting Back to Blonde

This method is so simple, you’ll wonder why you never tried it before!


Mix one part bleach powder with 2 parts shampoo in a tint bowl. I’ve used L’Oreal Studio powder bleach, which contains ammonia. The ammonia gives this an extra kick, so for the best results I recommend using something similar. A quick check of the package ingredients will show you whether your bleach powder has ammonia. Any old shampoo will do for this method. In fact, very simple, cheap shampoo is probably best.

Take the usual precautions that you would when bleaching: avoid getting the mixture in your eyes, wear old clothing, use protective gloves, do sensitivity and strand tests.


Apply the mixture to any green areas of your hair, taking care not to get it on your natural regrowth. You’ll be able to see the colour change occur. It only takes around 5-15 minutes to remove the green staining. Now rinse, shampoo and condition.

Tips

The key to getting rid of green staining is to apply the mixture thoroughly. If you find some areas that are still green it’s likely that they weren’t saturated enough with the mixture. You’ll need to repeat it on these areas.

This isn’t as damaging as bleaching your hair, but expect your hair to feel a little dry afterwards.

Don’t attempt this on hair that’s already badly damaged.

 LilVampSashHi would you recommend dying my roots first and then using this method? My hair is currently pale blue grey with heavy dark root regrowth. This looks like the technique that could work but as it works so fast, I'm worried about what to do to get my whole head pale blonde before toning to go white coz I think this technique is too fast for my whole head? Any suggestions please?

Jude Jude@LilVampSash I'd do the roots first. The act of washing off the bleach will take out some of the existing colour anyway. From there you can see whether you need to try this method. It can be a bit difficult to apply the mixture quickly on a full head application. You could try doing half, or even a quarter, of your hair in one session and do the rest in another.

Jude Jude@LilVampSash if the roots are very warm then you'll need to bleach a little longer until they're a light creamy blonde (similar to the blonde in the after picture above). From that shade you can tone it to look whiter. No need to bleach it to white though.

Kimdelee KimdeleeSo what makes this any different than a bleach bath is this not the same thing just bleach and shampoo? It's funny I did come here to ask this exact question because after trying to tone my hair Gray last month I went to bleach it to day and now have a faint pastel aqua.

moemoe moemoe@squirrelyhands so I just tried this on my very faded sky blue by ion and iroiro violet. It didn’t work for me so I’d just suggest doing a strand test first on a bottom layer first. It looked like a paste when I had mine mixed. I left mine on for 15 minutes but didn’t notice any change happening so I rinsed it to ensure I didn’t get any more damage then necessary.

I have coconut oil saturated hair for the past few days (even though the bleach qash didn't damage my hair, just a precaution) should i wash it out and dry thoroughly before this method?

Spending lazy summer afternoons in the pool can be a total blast, but all that chlorine can wreak havoc on your hair. Luckily, the antidote for this annoying beauty woe can be found right in your pantry.


During a segment on the 3rd Hour of TODAY on Tuesday, beauty expert Emma Heming Willis revealed that she uses ketchup, of all things, to create a hair mask whenever her mane is feeling the effects of all that chlorine. And Dylan Dreyer, Sheinelle Jones and Al Roker were pretty blown away.


"No way," Dylan said.


"This looks like a prank," Sheinelle commented.


Heming Willis, who is married to actor Bruce Willis, admitted that the idea of using ketchup in your hair is a bit divisive, but she explained why it works wonders.


"The tomato and the vinegar is very acidic, so what it's gonna do is just sort of help with that chlorine buildup in your hair," she said.

As the founder and CEO of the skin care line COCOBABA, Heming Willis knows a thing or two about beauty and she shared some tips on how to use her one-ingredient ketchup mask. She even asked her daughter to help serve as a model during her segment.


"Put it on thick; don't be afraid. Put it on a topknot on top of your head," she said, adding that you should pop a plastic shower cap on for 30 to 90 minutes to let the ingredient soak in.


Afterwards, simply wash the condiment out with shampoo and conditioner and get ready to love the results.

Green Tea and Cucumber Body Spray

"This is something that I love doing for my kids and I if we've gotten a little bit too much sun," Heming Willis said, adding that green tea is full of antioxidants. Cucumber is a great source of vitamin C and hydration; aloe vera cools and is anti-inflammatory; and peppermint cools.


Ingredients:


1 bag of green tea to make a cup. Reserve a ¼ cup

1 tablespoon aloe vera gel

Half of a cucumber (peeled and pureed)

2-3 drops of peppermint essential oil (optional)

Small spray bottle

Instructions:


Brew a cup of green tea (reserve ¼ cup) and let it cool to room temperature.

Take half a peeled cucumber and puree. Strain and add 2 tablespoons cucumber juice, 1 tablespoon of aloe vera gel and 2-3 drops of peppermint essential oil into mixing bowl.

Transfer the mixture to a spray bottle. Store in the refrigerator (it should last a week).

Question: I saw on Instagram you can cover your hair in tomato ketchup and rinse it out like a mask to help it grow more. Is it true and can I use it? I want to grow my hair long.


Answer: Hi, Sinead. There is a reason people use tomato ketchup as a hair mask, but it’s definitely not to promote hair growth.


Tomato ketchup can be used on blonde hair to strip any green discoloration which is fairly common after being exposed to copper in water, for instance in swimming pools. Not chlorine as many people believe. When hard metals and minerals in the water oxidise, they can leave swimmers’ pale hair with a green tinge.

Using the acidic nature of tomato ketchup to remove this discolouration is essentially a cheap hair hack that can keep blonde hair bright and neutralise the green tones.


This approach is not necessarily recommended for bleached hair, however. Firstly – the hair may take on a rosy tint from the ketchup, and secondly due to bleached hair being more susceptible to damage from this type of acidic treatment.


Better advice for growing your hair longer is to ensure it is kept in its best possible condition. This is not simply a haircare issue – which products you use and how often you wash your hair or brush it, for example; it is about ensuring your hair follicles are nourished from within and you minimise any potential issues which could prevent healthy hair growth.


Following a well-balanced diet, rich in all the key nutrients needed for healthy hair, is a great place to start. No, not at all. All you have to do is to opt for another option and this one is a better way to do - color your hair at home.

Herersquo's how you dye your hair, naturally:


#1. Your coffee is more than you think (Darker Shade)

Coffee, for most people, is the first thing they choose to see in the morning on a fresh new day. Well, it could also be something that will change your hair color without leaving any side effects. So how do you prepare a coffee dye to color that regular boring hair you had been wanting to reinvent?


Brew up a cup of strong coffee. Now take one tablespoon of coffee grounds and a half cup of leave-in conditioner for your hair. When the coffee is ready, mix the conditioner and coffee grounds to it. Stir it well.


Wet your hair only with water (do not use shampoo) and pour the coffee mixture to your damp hair. Let it set in for an hour. After an hour, itrsquo's time to wash off the liquid mixture from your hair. Rinse your hair with apple cider vinegar. Let the water run clear. You may repeat the process 2 to 3 times for a better result. But herersquo's a word of caution: Do not be generous with the quantity of apple cider vinegar. Only a few drops diluted in water should help.


#2. Only a cup of tea

Well, the quintessential drink could also be used for coloring your hair naturally. All you have to do is make a cup of very strong tea. Use some four to five tea bags in two cups of water. Leave the tea to cool off. As it cools, add your hair conditioner to it and apply the mixture to your hair. Leave it for an hour. You could also leave it overnight. Wear a shower cap in this case. The longer you have the tea mixture applied to your hair, the better the result may be. After the rest period, rinse your hair with clean water.


For better results, you could opt for a more concentrated cup of tea. But do remember to not go overboard with it. Higher concentration and longer duration of the hair mask works well, but an extreme case of it may not.


#3. Another cup of tea for Blonde Highlights

Tea could be used in various ways to add different shades to your hair. It could merely be used to hide your greys or could be a mask to enhance the color of your hair or even add a bit of hint of a different shade to your hair. If you are looking to bring our some natural blonde highlights, here is what you could do. Use chamomile tea. Make a cup of concentrated camomile tea and add equal parts of turmeric and calendula to it. Take this mixture and let it sit for close to 20 minutes. Now, filter it. Apply this on to your hair strands and leave it on for some 20 minutes. Rinse your hair with clean water. You could repeat the process if you feel it is necessary for a darker shade. Not more than twice. That could damage your hair.


#4. For that reddish tint to your hair (Reddish Tint)

Red is one hair color that most girls wish for. It is also a color that never goes out of style and also strongly sends out a clear message that you have colored your hair. So how do we get that fiery red colour? Well, take two cups of water. Add one cup of rose hips. Let the liquid steep until it turns deep red. Post that strain the liquid. Now make two cups of herbal tea. Add the rose hips mixture to the herbal tea preparation. Apply it on your hair. Leave it on your hair for some twenty minutes. After that, rinse your hair well until the water runs clear. You will see the shades of red on your hair strands. #5. Mixing and matching with Chamomile Tea (Add Highlight)

Make a cup of chamomile tea. Let it sit still for some time until it cools. Now add a few drops of lemon juice to it. Apply the mixture on your hair and leave it on for some twenty minutes. The more is the concentration of beetroot juice, the darker is the red tint on your hair.

Usually, we cover dramatic hair transformations, but after seeing some simpler hair transformations, I decided it was time for me to try my own hair makeover.


Here's a little background on my hair: I started dying my hair red a few years ago and haven't looked back since; my hair is relatively straight, but can also be kind of wavy; my hair gets pretty greasy; and my hair gets very frizzy (especially in the summer).


I mainly wanted to work on giving my hair some volume, decreasing its oiliness, sprucing up the color, and reducing frizz — that's how I ended up deciding to dump ketchup all over my head.

Since I was just planning on using the ketchup as a one-time hair mask, I was hoping for some pretty drastic results.


I waited until my hair was pretty gross and greasy before using the DIY hair mask, hoping it would make the results more noticeable.

I figured I would be able to get away with using just a little bit of ketchup, but I found out pretty quickly that I'd need to use more than I expected.


Unlike shampoo, a little does not go a long way when it comes to ketchup. I ended up using about 4 tablespoons, or a quarter of a cup.


I rubbed the ketchup into my roots just like shampoo, focusing most on that area in order to increase volume, add color, and increase shine.

I decided to wait 15 minutes with the ketchup in my hair before rinsing it out, just to make sure I got the full benefits.


During this part of the experiment, I realized I should probably put ketchup on the ends of my hair as well, but I waited until I was in the shower so I wouldn't make a mess.

Although my boyfriend told me the ketchup actually smelled good, I couldn't get on board — I was pretty grossed out, honestly.

As for the rest of my hair, I guess it had more volume, but it definitely wasn't shinier or easier to deal with.

To be quite frank, washing my hair with ketchup was a huge failure.


Would I recommend a ketchup hair mask to a friend? Probably not. I guess if you really like ketchup, you might enjoy it, but I don't think it really has any benefits.


Would I use a ketchup hair mask again? There's no way I'll ever put ketchup in my hair again.

Fact Check

Why does hair turn gray? 

Hair turns grey or white due to loss of a pigment-producing component called melanin, that produces melanocyte cells. They are responsible for natural hair and skin colour. The less melanin you have, the lighter your hair colour. Grey hair has minimal melanin, while white has none.


According to Harvard Health, the hair doesn’t turn grey on its own rather once a hair follicle produces hair, the color is set. If a single strand of hair starts out brown (or red or black or blond), it is never going to change its color (unless you color your hair). Your hair follicles produce less color as they age, so when hair goes through its natural cycle of dying and being regenerated, it’s more likely to grow as gray beginning after age 35. Genetics can play a role in when this starts.


Other reason of grey hair can be nutritional deficiency or an underlying disease.


Can gray hair turn black permanently?

No. Grey hair can’t reverse and turn black. If any external agent such as hair colour is applied, the hair colour will stay only until that hair grows out. Greying hair is a natural process that’s influenced by aging, genetic factors, nutritional deficiencies, and medical conditions.


Can a homemade recipe using tomatoes and coffee turn gray hair into black permanently?

No. There is no research which shows that tomatoes and coffee can permanently affect the melanin production and turn them into black. Coffee can be used as a dye to colour greying hair but that is a temporary solution. If melanin losses in your hair are due to genetics, there’s no way to reverse them.

SO, WHY DOES BLONDE HAIR TURN GREEN IN THE POOL?

You may think the chlorine is to blame for your hair turning green but that’s only half the story. The real problem is copper.



See there are lots of metals in the water, like copper and magnesium, and these are oxidised by the chlorine and then absorbed into your hair. That greenish tinge is mainly from the copper.


It’s also absorbed into dark hair but it’s much more obvious in lighter or blonde hair. You’ll notice that dark hair usually becomes dull and flat after a lot of swimming.


HOW CAN YOU REMOVE THE GREEN FROM BLONDE HAIR?


You need to use a toner to remove the green from your hair. Toners work by neutralising the colour in your hair. You choose a colour from the opposite side of the colour wheel to bring your hair back to neutral.


For example, when blonde hair starts to look yellow or orange, you use a purple or blue toner to stop the brassiness.


When your hair is green, you need to neutralise it with red. But finding a red toner that won’t colour your hair can be difficult.



That’s why tomato ketchup is your quick and easy solution.


I know, it sounds crazy but it works. Put it on burgers, and then put it in your hair.


It works in two ways:


The vinegar in the tomato sauce stops the chemical reaction from occurring.

The red colour neutralises the green to bring your hair back to normal.


There’s no risk of your hair going red, which is a bonus.

Rinse your hair and squeeze out the excess water.

Apply ketchup to your hair, concentrating on the ends or wherever it is green.

Leave it on for 10-20 minutes, depending on the depth of the green colour. You can check as you go to see how the colour looks.

Rinse it off and then shampoo and condition as normal.

If one application isn’t enough, you can do it a second time to remove all traces of green.

If you’re swimming a lot, wear a swimming cap. This will protect your hair.

You can also use a clarifying shampoo, or bi-carb soda to remove the green tone from your hair, but it’s often easier just to use ketchup. Wherever you are in the world (even Indonesia) you can find some tomato sauce. Ketchup is also gentler on your hair.

I'll admit, I'm slightly obsessed with jumpsuits. Can you blame me? They're flattering, effortless and comfy. Jumpsuits take the work out of contemplating what to wear, it's an easy one and done! Being that I have several jumpsuits in my closet, majority black, when I saw this one I knew I had to make it mine. I love the bold print, off-the-shoulder details, and it has pockets. What I love about this jumpsuit is the endless options it offers! It can be worn to work, on a dinner date or it would make for a stylish beach look on your next vacation. The palm trees print screams tropical vibes and is breathable enough to wear on even the hottest days of Summer. Depending on the occasion you can dress this jumpsuit up or down, by switching out your shoes. I wore open toe block heels, but if you're looking to dressing it down a bit, you can wear a flat sandal or flip flops. I felt like the bold and colorful print was enough of a statement, so I added minimal jewelry with a red lip.

To get the most out of my blowout I wear a silk wrap at night. Being that I'm a lazy natural, I understand the struggle of getting the energy to wrap your hair, but believe me, by wrapping your hair you're saving so much time styling your hair the next day.


I usually prefer to workout before I start my day which consists of a two-mile run around my neighborhood and a lift. Anytime I work out I wear a wrap to keep my hair up and to keep any residue from products from running down my face. I try my best to work up a good sweat and challenge myself, which also means that my hair gets sweaty. To keep from re-applying heat on my hair daily, I'll blow dry my hair on low and add some edge control to tame my baby hairs. My go-to is the Curls Blueberry Bliss Curl Control Paste, it leaves my edges laid without the flaky residue.


When I want to add volume to my bone straight look, I'll wand or curl my hair once a week, then bobby pin it at night to hold the curls without having to put too much heat on my hair.
