The theater obliged. They turned it down and it was absolutely noticeable. About 1/3 of the way through the movie it just stopped being epic, I wasn’t feeling the impact of “the word” anymore, this gigantic action scene was now suddenly tamed compared to how INCREDIBLE the movie was prior to the volume adjustment. It was like somebody switched off the surround sound and it went to stereo.I was so annoyed and it took me out of it completely. About an hour later, the sound was turned back up just in time for the ending.The only reason I knew someone complained was when I went to use the restroom after, two dudes were talking outside and I overheard them mentioning the volume. I approached them and they confirmed because they went to complain about how the sound was turned down, and staff told them someone had complained earlier.I didn’t know customers had this kind of power! The part of a gd IMAX experience is the sound. I feel like I was robbed of what the movie should’ve been. The sound design in the beginning had me floored, ugh.
