can aloe vera cure ulcer permanently?

GERD and GI Anti-Inflammation Home Remedy

Can ulcer be cured?

A: If you have peptic ulcer disease, which can involve stomach ulcers and/or duodenal ulcers of the small intestine, the answer is yes! These ulcers can be completely healed.

The development of H2 blockers (Pepcid®, Tagamet®, Axid®) and then Proton Pump Inhibitors (Prilosec®, Prevacid®, Nexium®, Aciphex®, Dexilant®, Zegerid®, and Protonix®) allow for most ulcers to be completely healed with medication. With these treatment developments, surgery for peptic ulcer disease is seldom needed.

These types of ulcers are caused primarily by three things: Stomach acids, H. pylori infections and medications, such as aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or NSAIDs, such as ibuprofen (Advil® and Motrin®) and naproxen (Aleve®).

Contrary to popular belief, the normal stress of day-to-day life does not cause or contribute to ulcers. Also, there’s no genetic link involved with the risk for developing ulcers, and diet has no effect on the healing of an ulcer either.

Drink “ bearably hot “ water ( not Luke warm) ___ a cup after waking up and a cup before bed. (Must try)

Eat bananas soaked in curd for half an hour. Add honey if required.

Avoid oil and masala completely.

Eat okra (ladies' finger) frequently.

This worked in some cases.

Good luck.

There is one thing that can actually cure/heal your gastric ulcer. Buy a big jug of 100 percent pure aloe Vera juice. Drink 1–2 ounces every morning on an empty stomach. It doesn't taste great, so shoot it like a shot of alcohol. Keep the aloe refrigerated. Do not eat or drink for an hour. Drink 1 ounce of the juice before bed as well, again, on an empty stomach.

If your country sells it and you can afford it, I recommend the Univera Aloe Vera concentrate. (Check online). It has better taste and is 200x concentrate. It also will not cause diarrhea. It may take a whole year, but it will heal your ulcer. Also follow the advice of your Doctor and avoid acidic and spicy foods, milk and other triggers.

Aloe Vera healed my uncle’s bleeding ulcers completely. His was severe enough to be dangerous (Potentially life threatening). It took a whole year, but it worked. His ulcer never returned.

This Tested and Proven Natural Solution – with zero side effects – has helped myself and 348 other Nigerians like you cure their stomach ulcer.

Read through to see testimonies FROM MANY NIGERIANS who have been cured of their ulcer using this very same therapy.

“Does That Sound Like Something You Want?”

Say Goodbye To Ulcer With This Simple Trick

If so, then I can help!

Hello, my name is Ade, and I know EXACTLY what you’re going through.

Believe me, I know what it’s like to suffer from the pain, discomfort and embarrassment ulcer.

I know what it’s like to live with constant occasional tummy aches, to have difficulty sleeping, and to have people unnecessarily feel sorry for you when the ulcer drama starts in public!

I know what it’s like to be genuinely hungry, but lack the urge to eat, or feel sick to your stomach after eating that you feel like throwing up – this was how serious mine was.

And I understand your frustration at being unable to find a solution – until now.

I had no idea how to permanently solve my ulcer problem, until I stumbled on an incredibly effective and all-natural solution.

But before I get to that

“Let Me Tell You How My Ulcer Nightmare Started…”

My ulcers started in my early twenties. I noticed 2-3 hours after I ate, I always had stomach pain. It was mild at first but began to worsen as I got older.

By the time I was in my mid-twenties, I was taking antacids every night before I went to bed.

The pain was unbearable but nothing I tried seemed to make it go away. I was a little stubborn but eventually I went to the doctor.

The doctor told me that I had an ulcer. He said not to worry because it was treatable with medication.

He wrote me a prescription (antacids, antibiotics, omeprazole tablets)and I was on my way.

Much to my amazement the drug actually got rid of my ulcer.

A few months later, I started developing the same symptoms.

Sure enough my new doctor told me I had another ulcer.

He said that I would have to switch medicines because they would become ineffective, as my body became accustomed to them.

“And NOTHING I Tried Worked!”

Being a “Professor” of Google Research, I decided to find another way to cure my ulcer.

One of the things I discovered very quickly was Long term use of drugs can actuallymake your ulcer worse and can even lead to serious side effects.

During this time of research, I tried everything. With every new treatment I tried, I had the hope that this would finally be the one that would get rid of my ulcers forever and be able to help others.

I researched, tried and tested:

• Herbs

• Aromatherapy

• All kinds of diets

• Acupuncture

• and many other so called cures

PEPTIC ULCER DISEASE - CAUSES AND TREATMENT!

The one thing that all of these “cures” had in common was that they did not work.

“But The Ulcer Just Kept Coming Back – And My Pains Just Got Worse and Worse”

I realized at that moment that there was not a simple answer to this problem. Oh sure there were a lot of treatments that would give me temporary relief but they were always temporary.

I also spoke with doctors, specialist, herbalist, holistic healers and anyone else I could find that had an idea on the subject.

After all of this time, I had formed a very good knowledge of what and how ulcers work. I also had a good idea of every cure that was out there.

“What Happened Next Was A Miracle”

I hate to admit this but I had given up. I was 29 years old and I was tired of trying to cure something that didn’t have a cure.

Then I got a strange phone call.

It was strange for two reasons.

First, it came from someone I had not spoken with in over 3 years.

Second, because it changed my life forever.

The call came from and old friend named Francis, who knew about my re-occurring ulcer problem from back in the days, before he relocated to Asia (in search for greener pastures)

He had been living with an Asian family next door. The only child of his neighbours had peptic ulcer, just as I did, so he wanted finding out if I was finally able to cure mine.

When I told him no, Francis told me something that changed my life forever.

He had found a cure.

An all-natural cure that totally eliminates ulcers. This cure follows a clinically proven set of steps that stops, heals and then cures ulcers.

His Asian neigbour used this very same system to get his only daughter cured of the very same ulcer that I had suffered for years, and he (the Asian Father) was kind enough to tell Francis the supplements he used – you know whites hardly withhold information the way we do here. Sad thing!

We arranged for a Skype (live video) call, and Francis went on to explain to me exactly what supplements to take, and what to do.

He was also kind enough to parcel and ship down the natural supplements I needed to cure the ulcer.

Needless to say, I followed his directions to the letter and took the supplements as instructed.

The results were astonishing.

“I FINALLY Found The Solution To My Ulcer Nightmare”

Peptic Ulcers, Causes, Signs and Symptoms, Diagnosis and Treatment.

I observed the state of things for months, and it was clear that it worked. The ulcer never returned as it used to.

Very elated, I told Francis about the success. He was glad too.

I then requested he send me 13 more packages for some people I knew in my church and sister’s office that I knew were suffering from what I was suffering from too.

Needless to say, it worked for them just as well!

As soon as I was confident enough that this remedy worked all the time, I started sharing it with other ulcer sufferers.

And every single one of them has experienced incredible results.

AND NOW YOU CAN TOO!

I Decided to Contact the company to buy in bulk and Help Others.

I had a discussion with the company production manager who’s in USA about how the Natural Supplement can be gotten to Nigeria as i will really love to introduce it to my friends and whoever i know that has been under the bondage of this stomach ulcer.

After few days i was able to seal a deal with the company and I arranged for shipment of 100 pieces down to Nigeria to sell In Bulk And Help Others.

So far, I have learned that my remedy I used and that has worked for so many others work on the following conditions:

Stomach ulcers are sores that develop in the lining of the stomach or part of the small intestine. Stomach ulcers are also known as peptic or gastric ulcers.

Causes of ulcers include:

an infection with Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) bacteria

long-term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medicines and ibuprofen

Stress and spicy food can also exacerbate the symptoms of an ulcer. Although they do not cause ulcers, they can make the situation worse by increasing the amount of stomach acid produced.

2. Aloe Vera

Some studies looking at how aloe vera affected stomach ulcers produced favorable results. Studies have also shown that aloe vera treated ulcers in a similar way to a popular anti-ulcer medication.

3. Garlic

Garlic is popular in many parts of the world for adding flavor to food. Garlic has antimicrobial and antibacterial properties, which make it helpful in fighting infections.

Some studies do support garlic's effectiveness in treating ulcers. For example, a 2016 study on animals showed that garlic could help prevent the development of ulcers and help speed up the healing process.

4. Probiotics

Probiotics are living organisms that help restore balance to the bacteria in the digestive tract. As well as helping achieve optimal gut health, they can help with treating ulcers.

When taken alongside other treatments, probiotics may help eradicate harmful bacteria.

Some foods have probiotics in them. But, consider taking supplements as they have higher concentrations of probiotics per serving.

5. Ginger

Many believe that ginger has gastroprotective effects and some people use it to treat stomach and digestive conditions, such as constipation, bloating, and gastritis.

However, the majority of these positive results hail from tests on animals so it is not clear whether the effects would be similar in humans.

occurs off and on for several weeks

People can relieve these symptoms using the following home remedies:

1. Probiotics

Yogurts contain probiotics that help restore balance to the bacteria in the digestive tract.

Probiotics are living organisms that help restore balance to the bacteria in the digestive tract. As well as helping achieve optimal gut health, they can help with treating ulcers.

According to a review from 2014Trusted Source, probiotics cannot kill H. pylori bacteria. However, they may reduce the amount of bacteria present, speed up the healing process, and improve some symptoms.

When taken alongside other treatments, probiotics may help eradicate harmful bacteria.

People can find probiotics in the following sources:

yogurts

fermented foods

probiotic supplements

Some foods have probiotics in them. But, consider taking supplements as they have higher concentrations of probiotics per serving.

2. Ginger

Many people think that ginger has gastroprotective effects. Some people use it to treat stomach and digestive conditions, such as constipation, bloating, and gastritis.

A review from 2013Trusted Source suggests that ginger can help with gastric ulcers caused by H. pylori bacteria. Eating ginger may also prevent ulcers caused by NSAIDs.

However, many of these results come from animal studies, so it is not clear whether the effects would be similar in humans.

3. Colorful fruits

Many fruits contain compounds called flavonoids, which are polyphenols. Flavonoids contribute toTrusted Source the rich colors of some fruits.

According to a 2011 reviewTrusted Source, polyphenols can help with stomach ulcers. They can also help a range of other digestive issues, including spasms and diarrhea.

Flavonoids protect the stomach lining from developing ulcers. They do this by increasing stomach mucus, which inhibits the growth of H. pylori. Flavonoids also have antioxidant properties.

Flavonoids are present in fruits such as:

apples

blueberries

cherries

lemons and oranges

nuts

4. Plantain bananas

Plantains are a type of banana. Research from 2011Trusted Source suggests that unripe plantains may have a positive effect on peptic ulcers.

STOMACH ULCER TREATMENT AT HOME

Unripe plantains contain a flavonoid called leucocyanidin. Leucocyanidin increases the amount of mucus in the stomach. This fruit may also reduce acidity, which can help prevent and relieve symptoms of ulcers.

5. Honey

Manuka honey has antimicrobial properties that may be useful when treating ulcers.

Honey is a popular, natural sweetener used across the United States. People who consume honey regularly can enjoy a range of health benefits.

A review from 2016Trusted Source states that Manuka honey has antimicrobial effects against H. pylori. It suggests that honey could be useful for treating stomach ulcers.

People also use honey to speed up wound healing, including skin ulcers, burns, and wounds.

6. Turmeric

Turmeric is a popular yellow spice frequently used in India and other parts of southern Asia. Like chili peppers, turmeric contains a compound called curcumin. Researchers are beginning to study curcumin in regards to its health benefits.

A 2013 reviewTrusted Source concluded that curcumin has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities that may help prevent stomach ulcers. However, there are a limited number of studies on humans.

There needs to be more research to examine how effective turmeric is in treating ulcers. Still, initial results appear to be positive. Scientists hope that turmeric can help relieve ulcer symptoms and treat the sores.

7. Chamomile

Some people use chamomile flowers and chamomile teas to treat minor anxiety, intestinal spasms, and inflammation.

A review study published in 2012 reports that chamomile extracts may also have anti-ulcer properties. Some researchers think it may inhibit stomach ulcers and reduce their healing time.

However, much of this research derives from animal studies. Researchers do not know whether chamomile will have the same effects on humans.

8. Garlic

Garlic is popular in many parts of the world for adding flavor to food. Garlic has antimicrobial and antibacterial properties, which make it helpful in fighting infections.

Some studies do support garlic’s effectiveness in treating ulcers. For example, a 2016 studyTrusted Source on animals showed that garlic could help prevent the development of ulcers and help speed up the healing process.

Clinically Approved: This Miracle juice Cure Stomach Ulcers only 3 months

According to a 2015 review, garlic may also help prevent the growth of H. pylori.

One small-scale study from 2015Trusted Source suggests that eating two cloves of garlic with a meal, twice a day, can have anti-bacterial effects against H. pylori.

However, not all studies agreeTrusted Source that garlic affects H.pylori or prevents ulcers. Scientists still need to do more research.

9. Licorice

Licorice is a popular spice that is native to the Mediterranean region and Asia. People have used licorice in traditional medications for hundreds of years. Some people believe that eating a dried licorice root can help cure and prevent ulcers.

However, research tends to focus on the use of supplements, not dried licorice root. So, people interested in using this spice for ulcers may want to try it as a supplement.

One 2013 studyTrusted Source found that taking licorice supplements can help fight H. pylori infections. The study suggests that the supplement helps prevent the bacteria from growing.

10. Aloe vera

Aloe vera is a popular plant-based oil found in many topical lotions, cosmetics, and foods.

Some studies looking at how aloe vera affected stomach ulcers produced favorable results.

For example, one 2011 study on rats reported that aloe vera treated ulcers in a similar way to a popular anti-ulcer medication.

But, researchers studied animals, not humans. So, scientists need to do more research to see the effects of aloe vera on humans.

Medical treatments for ulcers

Doctors may advise people to stop taking certain medications that can cause ulcers.

Medical treatments for stomach ulcers will vary based on what is causing the ulcer.

If taking NSAIDs caused the ulcer, a doctor will likely advise the person to stop or reduce their use of those drugs. People can switch to another medication for pain.

A doctor may prescribe proton-pump inhibitors (PPIs) to reduce stomach acid and protect the lining of the stomach. They cannot kill bacteria, but they can help fight an H. pylori infection. Some examples include Nexium, Prilosec, and Prevacid.

A doctor may also prescribe histamine receptor blockers. These prevent the stomach from producing too much acid.

Also, a doctor may prescribe a protectant called sucralfate (Carafate). This helps prevent further damage to the area around the ulcer.

When an H. pylori infection caused the ulcer, a doctor may also prescribe antibiotics. Since H. pylori can be hard to kill, a person must take all doses exactly as prescribed even after symptoms go away.

Often, a doctor will combine several medications and therapies when treating an ulcer. Combination therapies help address pain, prevent further damage, and cure any infection.

Outlook

A person may be able to find relief with some home remedies. But, people should see their doctor to find out the cause and receive medical treatment.

A doctor can create a treatment plan to help treat the ulcer. At-home remedies may help prevent ulcers developing in the future and naturally help ease symptoms.

Peptic ulcer disease is becoming a very common disease as it is associated with lifestyle e.g eating habits more than infection, by bacteria, H. pylori [1]. There are many treatments for the disease which are not very potent for the eradication of the disease.

A comparative study was therefore carried out with Aloe Vera, cimetidine and omeprazole to arrive at the most potent treatment drug. A total of thirty (30) male and female rats were used for the study. The Aloe Vera extract with LD50 of 1870.83 mg/kg was administered in three dosages; low, medial and high, 187.08 mg/kg, 374.42 mg/kg and 561.25 mg/kg respectively in groups (3-4) while cimetidine and omeprazole in groups V and VI respectively for 28 days. Gastric HCl increased significantly p<0.1 in group 3 as compared to the control but was not significant p>0.01 in groups 2, 4 and 6. Aloe Vera showed more potent healing than omeprazole and Cimetidine as there were no traces of ulceration observed in the stomach of the rats as early as 7 days of the observation treatment. However, the acid output in the Aloe Vera treated groups were not significantly reduced p>0.01 as compared to Cimetidine and omeprazole groups. But the ulceration was significantly eliminated than in the cimetidine and omeprazole treated groups. It is concluded that Aloe Vera probably acts through prostaglandin increase in its ingredient for the healing of the ulcer.

Using aloe vera for ulcer relief is not recommended, for either peptic ulcers or mouth ulcers. There is little evidence that the method works, and there are plenty of effective treatments for both types of ulcer.

VIDEO OF THE DAY

Tip

Ingesting aloe vera for ulcer relief could cause a laxative effect and abdominal cramps if you accidentally consume the latex part of the plant. Take antacids for quick ulcer pain relief, and talk to your doctor about other treatment options.

What Are Peptic Ulcers?

Peptic ulcers are open sores in your digestive system. Gastric ulcers form in the lining of your stomach, and duodenal ulcers occur in your duodenum (the first part of your small intestine). Symptoms of gastric ulcers include burning stomach pain, nausea, heartburn, intolerance to fatty food and feeling uncomfortably full or bloated.

There are two common potential causes for peptic ulcers. One is the over-use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) like ibuprofen and aspirin. The second is an infection caused by H. pylori bacteria.

According to the Mayo Clinic, H. pylori bacteria are commonly found in a mucus layer in the stomach and small intestines and often do not cause symptoms. However, in some cases, the bacteria can damage the mucus, allowing stomach acid to irritate the lining of the stomach or duodenum. This irritation can lead to ulcers.

NSAIDs typically prevent inflammation, pain and fever. According to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, NSAIDs work by blocking certain enzymes associated with inflammation, pain and fever. However, the blocked enzyme is also involved in protecting the lining of your stomach from stomach acid. Thus, blocking that enzyme through NSAID use makes it more likely that you will develop a peptic ulcer.

What Are Mouth Ulcers?

Mouth ulcers, also known as canker sores, occur on the inside of your cheeks and lips. Harvard Health says that there's no single clear cause for canker sores. They can occur if you accidentally bite the inside of your mouth or if braces or dentures irritate your mouth lining. Other possible causes include stress, gluten intolerance and a vitamin B12 deficiency.

5 Natural ways to treat stomach ulcers | Dr. Arpitha Komanapalli

Canker sores typically heal on their own within 10 to 14 days, and there are some over-the-counter treatments that may speed up the healing process. Mount Sinai Health recommends rinsing your mouth with salt water, or using a cotton swab to dab a mixture of half hydrogen peroxide and half water onto the sore.

Seek medical assistance if you have a mouth ulcer that lasts longer than two weeks or seems to be worsening over time. Mount Sinai also recommends speaking with your doctor if you have canker sores more than two to three times per year, or if you have other symptoms like diarrhea, fever, skin rash or headache along with a mouth ulcer.

Peptic Ulcer Treatment

The best treatment for a peptic ulcer depends on what is causing the ulcer. If your ulcer was caused by overusing NSAIDs, your doctor will likely recommend that you cut down or stop using NSAIDs entirely — even if NSAIDs would be your preferred painkiller for quick ulcer pain relief. Medications that may help treat peptic ulcers include:

Medications that block or reduce the amount of stomach acid your body produces, which gives ulcers the chance to heal. Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) like omeprazole (Prilosec), esomeprazole (Nexium) and lansoprazole (Prevacid) inhibit stomach acid secretion.

Acid blockers, also called H2 blockers, prevent an inflammatory agent called histamine from stimulating stomach acid production. Common H2 blockers include ranitidine (Zantac), famotidine (Pepcid), nizatidine (Axid) and cimetidine (Tagamet).

Antacids can offer fast-acting relief by reducing excess stomach acid and can be a good choice for quick ulcer pain relief. Antacids like Tums and Pepto-Bismol are widely available over-the-counter.

Antibiotics can help treat an H. pylori infection. Common options include amoxicillin, clarithromycin and tetracycline. Your doctor will decide which antibiotics are the best choice for you. If you are prescribed antibiotics, it's crucial that you finish the entire course of medication. Plus, check with your doctor to see if any supplements you are taking could interact with the antibiotics.

Aloe Vera for Ulcers

There are anecdotal reports of people using aloe vera for ulcer treatment, but this method has not been scientifically tested. In fact, taking aloe vera for ulcers may even exacerbate stomach problems caused by a peptic ulcer.

The latex component of aloe vera has laxative properties, caused by a compound called aloin. According to the National Toxicology Program, there is very little information available about the aloin content of consumer aloe vera drinks and supplements. And if you are preparing aloe vera gel for consumption, failure to properly rinse the latex from the gel can result in aloin intake.

Applying aloe vera to mouth ulcers may also cause you to accidentally ingest aloe vera latex, leading to gastrointestinal distress. Instead, try using over-the-counter mouth ulcer remedies or asking your doctor what he recommends.

Recommended Food for Ulcer Relief

Instead of taking aloe vera for ulcers, you can make a number of changes to your diet. One helpful food for ulcer relief: Polyphenol-rich fruits and veggies. According to a review of literature published in the World Journal of Gastroenterology in June 2015, polyphenol compounds that occur naturally in fresh produce can help prevent or treat peptic ulcers.

The paper states that good sources of polyphenols include apples, grapes, green tea, cumin and pomegranates. The authors noted that a polyphenol-rich diet has almost no side effects, unlike medicinal treatments for peptic ulcers which can cause gastrointestinal problems like nausea and bloating.

Plus, a diet rich in fruits and vegetables has other health benefits. It may reduce your risk of heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, kidney stones and certain types of cancer.

You can also try probiotic foods for ulcer relief. The Mayo Clinic recommends miso, sauerkraut and yogurt. Other probiotic-rich foods include kombucha, kimchi and kefir. Kefir, a fermented yogurt drink, has anti-inflammatory properties.

How can I use aloe vera to cure ulcer?

Ulcers are sores that can develop in different parts of the body.

Gastric ulcers, or stomach ulcers, develop in the lining of the stomach. They are very common, affecting between 2.4–6.1% of the population (1Trusted Source).

Various factors that disrupt the balance your stomach’s environment can cause them. The most common is an infection caused by the Helicobacter pylori bacteria (2Trusted Source).

Other common causes include stress, smoking, excess alcohol consumption and the overuse of anti-inflammatory medications, such as aspirin and ibuprofen.

Conventional anti-ulcer treatment typically relies on medications that can cause negative side effects like headaches and diarrhea.

For this reason, interest in alternative remedies has steadily risen and been fueled by both medical professionals and individuals with ulcers alike.

This article lists 9 scientifically backed natural ulcer remedies.

Aloe Vera Polysaccharides | A Proven Natural Remedy For Peptic Ulcers And Crohn's disease

1. Cabbage Juice

Cabbage is a popular natural ulcer remedy. Doctors reportedly used it decades before antibiotics were available to help heal stomach ulcers.

It’s rich in vitamin C, an antioxidant shown to help prevent and treat H. pylori infections. These infections are the most common cause of stomach ulcers (3Trusted Source, 4Trusted Source, 5Trusted Source).

In fact, several animal studies show that cabbage juice is effective at treating and preventing a wide range of digestive ulcers, including those affecting the stomach (6, 7, 8Trusted Source).

In humans, early studies observed that daily consumption of fresh cabbage juice appeared to help heal stomach ulcers more effectively than the conventional treatment used at the time.

In one study, 13 participants suffering from stomach and upper digestive tract ulcers were given around one quart (946 ml) of fresh cabbage juice throughout the day.

On average, these participants’ ulcers healed after 7–10 days of treatment. This is 3.5 to 6 times faster than the average healing time reported in previous studies in those who followed a conventional treatment (9Trusted Source).

In another study, the same quantity of fresh cabbage juice was given to 100 participants with stomach ulcers, most of whom had previously received conventional treatment with no success. 81% were symptom-free within a week (10Trusted Source).

However, researchers have yet to identify its exact recovery-promoting compounds, and no recent studies could be identified.

Moreover, neither of these early studies had a proper placebo, which makes it difficult to know for certain that the cabbage juice is what produced the effect.

SUMMARY:

Cabbage juice contains compounds that may help prevent and heal stomach ulcers. Cabbage is also rich in vitamin C, which appears to have similar protective properties.

2. Licorice

Licorice is a spice native to Asia and the Mediterranean region.

It comes from the dried root of the Glycyrrhiza glabra plant and is a popular traditional herbal medicine used to treat many conditions.

Some studies report that licorice root may have ulcer-preventing and ulcer-fighting properties.

home cure for stomach ulcer

For instance, licorice may stimulate the stomach and intestines to produce more mucus, which helps protect the stomach lining. The extra mucus may also help speed up the healing process and help reduce ulcer-related pain (11Trusted Source).

Researchers further report that certain compounds found in licorice may prevent the growth of H. pylori. However, studies are generally based on the use of these compounds in supplement form (12Trusted Source, 13Trusted Source).

Thus, it’s unclear how much dried licorice root someone would need to consume to experience the same beneficial effects.

Dried licorice root should not be confused with licorice-flavored sweets or candy. Licorice candy is unlikely to produce the same effects and is generally very high in sugar.

Additionally, some studies report no effect, so using licorice as an ulcer remedy may not work in all cases (14Trusted Source).

Licorice may also interfere with certain medications and cause side effects, such as muscle pain or numbness in the extremities. Consider speaking to your healthcare practitioner before increasing the licorice content of your diet.

SUMMARY:

Licorice may prevent and fight ulcers in some individuals.

3. Honey

Honey is an antioxidant-rich food linked to a variety of health benefits. These include improved eye health and a reduced risk of heart disease, stroke and even certain types of cancer (15Trusted Source).

Honey also appears to prevent the formation and promote the healing of many wounds, including ulcers (16Trusted Source).

Moreover, scientists believe that honey’s antibacterial properties can help fight H. pylori, one of the most common causes of stomach ulcers (17Trusted Source, 18Trusted Source).

Several animal studies provide support for honey’s ability to reduce the risk of developing ulcers, as well as healing time. However, human studies are needed (19, 20Trusted Source, 21Trusted Source, 22).

SUMMARY:

Regular consumption of honey may help prevent ulcers, especially those caused by H. pylori infections.

4. Garlic

Garlic is another food with antimicrobial and antibacterial properties.

Animal studies observe that garlic extracts may speed up recovery from ulcers and even reduce the likelihood of them developing in the first place (6, 23Trusted Source, 24Trusted Source).

What’s more, lab, animal and human studies all report that garlic extracts may help prevent H. pylori growth — one of the most common causes of ulcers (25).

In a recent study, eating two cloves of raw garlic per day for three days helped significantly reduce bacterial activity in the stomach lining of patients suffering from H. Pylori infection (26Trusted Source).

However, not all studies were able to reproduce these results and more are needed before strong conclusions can be made (27Trusted Source).

SUMMARY:

Garlic has antimicrobial and antibacterial properties that may help prevent ulcers and heal them quicker. However, more research is needed.

5. Turmeric

Turmeric is a South Asian spice used in many Indian dishes. It’s easily recognizable by its rich yellow color.

Curcumin, turmeric’s active ingredient, has been attributed to medicinal properties.

These range from improved blood vessel function to reduced inflammation and heart disease risk (28Trusted Source, 29Trusted Source, 30Trusted Source).

What’s more, curcumin’s anti-ulcer potential has recently been studied in animals.

It appears to have immense therapeutic potential, especially in preventing damage caused by H. pylori infections. It may also help increase mucus secretion, effectively protecting the stomach’s lining against irritants (31Trusted Source).

Limited studies have been done in humans. One study gave 25 participants 600 mg of turmeric five times per day.

Four weeks later, ulcers had healed in 48% of participants. After twelve weeks, 76% of participants were ulcer-free (32Trusted Source).

In another, individuals who tested positive for H. pylori were given 500 mg of turmeric four times per day.

After four weeks of treatment, 63% of participants were ulcer-free. After eight weeks, this amount increased to 87% (33).

That said, neither of these studies used a placebo treatment, which makes it difficult to know whether the turmeric is what caused the participants’ ulcers to heal. Thus, more research is needed.

SUMMARY:

Curcumin, turmeric’s active compound, may protect the stomach lining and help ulcers heal. However, more research is needed, especially in humans.

6. Mastic

Mastic is a resin obtained from the Pistacia lentiscus tree, more commonly known as the mastic tree.

Treat Stomach Ulcer Naturally With Garlic- Kitchen Remedy For Stomach Ulcer

Other common names for mastic include Arabic gum, Yemen gum and tears of Chios.

The mastic tree generally grows in the Mediterranean region, and its sap can be dried into pieces of brittle translucent resin.

When chewed, this resin softens into a white opaque gum with a pine-like flavor.

Mastic has long been used in ancient medicine to treat various gut disorders, including stomach ulcers and Crohn’s disease (34Trusted Source, 35Trusted Source).

More recently, animal studies report that it may act as a potent natural ulcer remedy (36Trusted Source).

Additionally, research in 38 participants suffering from ulcers reports that daily consumption of 1 gram of mastic led to a 30% greater reduction in ulcer-related symptoms than the placebo.

By the end of the two-week study period, ulcers were healed in 70% of the participants in the mastic group versus only 22% of those in the placebo group (37Trusted Source).

Mastic appears to have antibacterial activity against H. pylori as well.

In one recent study, intake of 350 mg of mastic gum three times a day for 14 days eradicated H. pylori infections 7–15% more effectively than the conventional treatment (38Trusted Source).

Although this finding has not been universally observed in all studies, long-term mastic consumption is generally considered safe. Thus, it might be worth testing it out for yourself (39Trusted Source).

Mastic can be found at most health food stores either as a gum or powdered supplement.

SUMMARY:

Mastic is a traditional anti-ulcer remedy that may help reduce symptoms and speed up recovery. It’s considered safe, but its effects can vary from one person to another.

7. Chili Peppers

There’s a popular notion among people suffering from ulcers that eating chili peppers too often or in large quantities may cause stomach ulcers.

In fact, people suffering from ulcers are often advised to limit their consumption of chili peppers or to avoid them completely.

Home Remedies For Stomach Ulcers

However, recent research shows that these peppers are unlikely to cause ulcers and may actually help get rid of them.

That’s because chili peppers contain capsaicin, an active ingredient that appears to reduce stomach acid production and enhance blood flow to the stomach lining. Both of these factors are thought to help prevent or heal ulcers (40Trusted Source).

The capsaicin found in chili peppers may also help increase mucus production, which can coat the stomach lining and protect it from injury (41Trusted Source).

Most, although not all, animal studies show beneficial effects. However, few human studies could be found (42, 43Trusted Source, 44).

Also, note that the animal studies above used capsaicin supplements rather than whole chili peppers. In at least one study, such supplements led to more intense gastric pain in certain individuals (45).

Therefore, it may be best to stick to the whole food and adjust your intake based on your personal tolerance.

SUMMARY:

Contrary to popular belief, regular consumption of chili peppers may help protect against ulcers and perhaps even enhance their healing. However, more studies are needed, especially in humans.

8. Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is a plant widely used in the cosmetic, pharmaceutical and food industries. It is widely known for its antibacterial and skin-healing properties.

Interestingly, aloe vera may also be an effective remedy against stomach ulcers (46Trusted Source, 47, 48, 49).

In one study, aloe vera consumption significantly reduced the amount of stomach acid produced in rats suffering from ulcers (50Trusted Source).

In another study in rats, aloe vera had ulcer-healing effects comparable to omeprazole, a common anti-ulcer medication (47).

However, few studies have been done in humans. In one, a concentrated aloe vera drink was used to successfully treat 12 patients with stomach ulcers (51Trusted Source).

In another study, taking antibiotics with 1.4 mg/pound (3 mg/kg) of aloe vera daily for six weeks was as effective as the conventional treatment at healing ulcers and reducing H. pylori levels (52).

Ulcer home remedy | Ten ways to relieve stomach ulcers at home

Aloe vera intake is considered generally safe and the above studies show some promising results. However, more studies in humans are needed.

SUMMARY:

Aloe vera may be an easy, well-tolerated remedy against stomach ulcers. However, more research in humans is needed.

9. Probiotics

Probiotics are live microorganisms that offer an array of health effects.

Their benefits range from improving the health of your mind to the health of your gut, including its ability to prevent and fight ulcers.

Although the way this works is still being investigated, probiotics seem to stimulate the production of mucus, which protects the stomach lining by coating it.

They may also promote the formation of new blood vessels, which eases transport of healing compounds to the site of the ulcer and speeds up the healing process (2Trusted Source).

Interestingly, probiotics may play a direct role in preventing H. pylori infections (53Trusted Source).

Moreover, these beneficial bacteria appear to enhance conventional treatment efficiency by around 150%, all while reducing diarrhea and other antibiotic-related side effects by up to 47% (53Trusted Source, 54Trusted Source, 55Trusted Source).

The dose required for maximum benefits is still being researched. That said, most of the studies above report benefits after taking 200 million to 2 billion colony-forming units (CFU) for 2–16 weeks (53Trusted Source).

Probiotic-rich foods tend to provide less colony-forming units per portion than supplements, but they are worth adding to your diet nonetheless.

Good sources include pickled vegetables, tempeh, miso, kefir, kimchi, sauerkraut and kombucha.

SUMMARY:

Probiotics may help prevent and fight ulcers. They may also enhance the efficiency of anti-ulcer medications and reduce their side effects.

Foods to Avoid

Just like some foods can help prevent ulcers from forming or help them heal faster, some have the exact opposite effect.

✅How To Cure Mouth Ulcer Or Canker Sores Fast At Home By Aloe Vera | Health 365😍

Those trying to heal their stomach ulcers or avoid developing them should consider minimizing their intake of the following foods (56Trusted Source):

Milk: Although once recommended to help reduce stomach acidity and relieve pain, new research shows milk increases the secretion of stomach acid and should be avoided by those with ulcers (56Trusted Source).

Alcohol: Alcohol consumption can cause damage to the stomach and digestive tract, increasing the likelihood of ulcers (57Trusted Source, 58Trusted Source).

Coffee and soft drinks: Coffee and soft drinks, even if they’re decaf, can increase production of stomach acid, which can irritate the stomach lining (59Trusted Source).

Spicy and fatty foods: Extremely spicy or fatty foods can create feelings of irritation in some people. Chili peppers are an exception, based on personal tolerance (60).

In addition to avoiding the foods above, consuming small meals at regular times, snacking throughout the day, eating slowly and chewing your food well can help reduce pain and promote healing (60).

Moreover, avoiding smoking and reducing stress are two additional useful anti-ulcer strategies.

SUMMARY:

Certain foods may increase the likelihood of developing ulcers and delay their healing. Their intake should be minimized by individuals prone to or suffering from stomach ulcers.

The Bottom Line

Stomach ulcers are a relatively common and irritating medical condition.

The natural remedies listed above may help prevent the development of stomach ulcers and facilitate their healing. In some cases, they may even improve the effectiveness of conventional treatment and reduce the severity of its side effects.

It’s important to note that in most cases, it remains unclear whether these natural remedies are as effective as conventional treatment.

Thus, those suffering from ulcers should seek advice from their healthcare professional before self-medicating.

Background: Aloe Vera is one of the endemic plants in southern Iran, which has been mentioned in the textbooks of Persian medicine since 2500 years ago. The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness and cost of Aloe Vera gel with conventional treatments in patients with chronic ulcers.

Stomach Ulcer Foods to AVOID (stomach ulcer diet restrictions)

Methods: This comparative study was conducted on 60 patients with chronic ulcers (more than 3 weeks) in Al-Zahra hospital (Isfahan, Iran) in 2015. The participants were divided into two groups of 30 patients per group. In one group, we used conventional treatment plus Aloe Vera gel and in the other group, only the conventional treatment was used. In the Aloe Vera group, we used Aloe Vera gel twice a day. The patients were followed-up a week after the treatment and then monthly for 3 months.

Results: The male: female ratio was 1:1 in each group. The mean age of the Aloe Vera and control groups were 62.3±11.2 and 63.1±9.6, respectively. After three months follow-up, wound healing occurred in 28 (93.3%) patients in the Aloe Vera group and 14 (46.7%) patients in the control group (P<0.05). The overall mean time of wound healing was 31.25±11.2 and 63.2±20.4 in the Aloe Vera and control groups, respectively (P<0.05). The mean hospitalization time was 35.2±6.4 and 67.4±8.9 in the Aloe Vera and control groups, respectively (P<0.05). The average cost of Aloe Vera gel and conventional treatment per patient was $2 and $10 daily, respectively (P<0.05).

Conclusion: Aloe Vera gel is a beneficial treatment and cost effective for patients with chronic ulcers. The use of Aloe Vera gel in chronic ulcer is recommended in developing countries to lessen the financial burden.
