Cloverfield is one of the few “found footage” films that has aged well

I’ve gone back and watched The Blaire Witch Project and Paranormal Activity 1, neither of them hold up that well imo. Blaire Witch...I get that what you don’t see can be scarier than what you do see, but you really see a whole lot of nothing in that movie. And the screaming gets tiresome. Paranormal Activity is also pretty boring for the most part. Unlike the sequels it’s only filmed with one camera so 60% of the movie is just watching them in bed and....the lights turn on!!! Ooohhh! (Who sleeps with the door open btw?) Cloverfield is still pretty good. It uses the shaky cam technique quite effectively, especially that part on the bridge. You actually feel like you’re in the crowd at times, and being in a crowd can be scary. The sensory overload, the urge to do what everyone else is doing. You never get a good look at the monster until the end, which I like. And the shitty camera and fashion gives it a 2000’s throwback feeling. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3GW8vWw
