I feel like Conan the Barbarian starring Arnie is one of the greatest films ever made and also I think if you don't like it, it's because you are ignorant.Conan was created by the genius of Oliver Stone and John Millius. The latter being famously depicted as Walter by John Goodman in The Big Lebowski.Why is it so great?For one, it has the greatest musical score of any film by Basil Poledouris, incredible Wagner esque, score. Just listen to the intro or the piece where Conan's village is attacked and slaughtered by a band of bandits. You don't get goose bumbs?Conan is a film that takes places in an imaginary, yet realistic, bronze age Europe with the remnants of a dark age still there, snake cults, magic, Atlantis just recently gone.It's a world that will resonate with anyone who has ever studied ancient history.It's also an unapologetically example of right wing cinema, which will scare some, but be interesting and inspirational to many.
