Rewatching Juno (2007) as an adult.

Juno came out when I was 15, as a girl desperate to be a quirky pixie dream girl I went and saw it in theaters. To say I left a bit confused would be an understatement. I’ve always thought of Juno as an overhyped movie by adults who didn’t understand what being a teenager was like at that time. Really to me the best part of the movie was the soundtrack. I’ve held this opinion for years, that Juno was an okay movie that became a weird indie darling because teen pregnancy? Honestly besides seeing Elliot Page in other things I really didn’t think of Juno at all.Through weird circumstances I watched it last night by myself. Holy shit Juno as an adult is such a different experience. As now a woman closer to 30 it’s gut wrenching to see Jennifer Garner and Jason Bateman play these characters. Basically I feel like I saw the movie for the first time, and it’s completely crazy to me how much I missed as a teenager watching it. To go from thinking Batemans character was cool guy to seeing how cringe and horrible it is to want to impress a teenage girl to deal his own insecurities was a very horrible realization. Also seeing Garner switch from the nagging/boring character to a woman desperately trying to be a mom and all of the intricacies that go along with that. That’s not even addressing the performance of Page which was so subtle and layered. Ugh I just have so many thoughts about the movie, with how complex and awfully sad the whole plot is, it’s making me want to rewatch every movie I wrote off as a teenager to see how my viewpoint has so drastically changed the plot. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3xxN8Wx
