Can a skinny girl go to gym?

My Transformation From Skinny To Fit - REALISTIC ADVICE ON HOW TO GAIN WEIGHT (FOR BEGINNERS!)

When you think about exercise, you probably think about weight loss and using it to get rid of some flab. But losing weight shouldn’t be the only reason you strap on those tennis shoes.

Exercising regularly benefits your whole body – physically and emotionally. Here are 10 reasons you should take a regular breather, no matter what your weight. Plus: What’s your fitness style?

1. Weight Loss is a Long Process

Exercising solely to lose weight causes you to easily lose sight of your ultimate goal.

It’s just too far away and you get bogged down in the lack of immediate changes.

Weight loss really does take a long time, and this can discourage you from working out consistently if weight loss is your only goal.

Instead of focusing solely on weight loss, you should be exercising for these reasons:

2. Exercise is Good for Your Ticker

Aerobic exercise increases the heart’s pumping power, which gets more nutrient-rich, oxygenated blood to your entire body.

It also improves blood flow and circulation, and can help reduce blood pressure and elevated heart rates.

Aerobic exercises include walking, jogging, running, bicycling, swimming, or playing sports for a good 30 minutes or so. Vary your activities so you don’t get bored, and your heart will thank you.

3. Exercise Reduces Stress & Anxiety

We all have to deal with stress, and anxiety can follow closely behind. But if you get rid of your stress in a constructive way, you’re stopping the chain reaction before it can start.

Hitting the gym, basketball court and walking or running outside can help you de-stress. Exercise removes built up tension and gives your body the energy outlet it needs to put that stress to good use.

4. Exercise Increases Bone Density

Drinking your milk or eating calcium-rich foods isn’t the only way to get strong bones. High-impact exercises, like running, also builds better bones. As your muscles contract, they pull on tendons that are attached to your bones. This tugging action actually stimulates re-mineralization of your bones. And this directly equates to stronger bones.

5. Exercise Helps You Sleep Better

At the end of a long, hard day, what’s the first thing you think of? Falling right into bed is on the top of my list!

If you’re having trouble falling asleep at night, it’s probably because you’re not using up enough energy during the day. You should exercise at least 30 minutes every day to give your body a reason to need sleep.

This is especially true if you’re sedentary or sit at a desk all day long. After exercising, you’ll get a restful 7-8 hours of sleep and you’ll be ready to take on the world!

6. Exercise Gives You More Energy

It might sound kind of backwards to think that if you exercise you’ll have more energy, but it really does work.
Regular exercise helps your body become more efficient. By exercising, you’ll improve your body’s efficiency of effort. And the payoff is that you’ll conserve energy for those extra bursts you need throughout the day to keep on top of your game. It’s funky, but true: Exercise and you’ll have more energy!7. Exercising Makes You a Role Model
It works for your family, friends and even co-workers: They’ll look to you as an example of how to be healthier and get themselves in shape. Because if you can do it, they can do it too!
8. Exercise Gives You a Better Body ImagePoor self-image often stems from being overweight and lacking confidence in your body. Getting fit, and feeling strong and capable, helps you to see yourself in a whole new light.Get in shape and you’ll appreciate your body for how hard it works, and how amazing it really is.

9. Exercise Gives You More Control

Many sedentary people are that way because they feel like they have no control over their life. If they can’t get up off the couch just to exercise, how can they accomplish anything else?Following an exercise routine puts meaning into your day, and gives you a sense of accomplishment that you can’t get anywhere else.

10. Exercise Helps You Make Healthier Choices

When one part of your life is going well, all the other parts just seem to fall into place.

As you spend your precious time and energy exercising, you’ll be more likely to make healthier choices in what you eat. After all, you don’t want to waste all the calories you’ve just burned exercising!

Exercising, and appreciating your body and your life, can also influence the other choices you make in life. Like how you spend your time, who you spend it with, and what’s really important to you.

What's Your Fitness Style?

Some people find it easy to set the alarm clock for 4:30 a.m. and jump out of bed for a five-mile run, while others hit the snooze button so many times that the chance of a morning workout becomes obsolete. There are specific aspects of your personality that determine what kind of exerciser you are, so if you've found yourself in a fitness rut, it's time to put your unique interests back into the equation.
