The Purrrfect Ride | Cat rides Horse
What an interesting question. It’s an easy question for me to answer as well. A horse the size of a cat!
Why not a cat the size of a mouse? Because I witnessed cats a little larger than rats when I was a child.
You have to go back to St. Louis, Missouri, in 1944, during WWII, in a 2nd. story apartment flat with a back porch. Behind the flat, a few yards from the apartment house, was an alley.
Smelly, disgustingly banged up garbage cans lined the inner border of the alley. Each apartment resident had such a garbage can and filled it with disgusting rotting scraps of food, and other wet and dry garbage. On hot days, even fifty to sixty feet away, residents who sat on their back porches could smell the putrid food scraps and offal.
But what was worse, huge rats fed upon the contents of those garbage cans without lids. Because of their size, much larger than ordinary rats, they easily vaulted to the tops of piles of refuse food and nourished themselves.
While there were a few cats in the neighborhood, most kept clear of the rats feeding on the garbage. Every so often, a new feline prowler would venture out and would quickly be attacked by the vicious raggedy rats. The rats would attack three and four at a time, stripping the cat of its coat, and plunging sharp teeth down to disemboweled as well as streak the still living cat with blood: each rat munching on a particular portion of the cat. All you saw were the rats, like a wavering black cover over the prey gorging themselves.
Most residents who happened to see the rats gang up on the cat, the rats the size of full grown rabbits, would just stare in disgust.
And a little boy, on two separate occasions saw the spectacle of rats rabidly sinking their teeth and eating a wiggly cat that got too close. And that little boy will never forget the experience.
Thus, it is my feeling, from personal experience as a child looking at a cat practically the size of rats being devoured that makes me believe a cat the size of mice would not be able to survive. I could be wrong, and probably am, but I’ll stick to a horse the size of a cat and enjoy the company.
Cute question. I’d rather own a horse the size of a cat. It would be much easier to keep a tiny horse safe, than it would be to keep a tiny cat safe. Horses adjust very well to being kept in fenced off areas, and to being kept in stalls. Even my small yard would be room enough for a cat sized horse. Cats wouldn’t be content….they need to be able to roam even if they’re indoor cats. A tiny cat would get itself into so much trouble, such as jumping into the refrigerator, unseen, right before you close the door. To this day, even though I haven’t had a cat in years, I still check my dryer to make sure that no cat has snuck in, before I turn it on. That was a favorite game my cats used to play. It was maddening.
If the horse was the size of a Siberian , Ragdoll, or Maine Coon I would go for it. Easy to take care of, diaperable for indoor living, or perhaps train it to use a hay box. Its waste would make excellent garden compost too.
A cat the size of a mouse would be all sorts of problems. It really couldn't roam free inside, too many places it could crawl in to or under. It would be cruel to keep it in a container, even if specially designed, Might as well just have a mouse for a pet, their nature is more disposed towards contained living.
Tough one, cause I don’t expect a horse to act the way a house cat would. So outside it goes!

But a cat the size of a mouse would be too easy to kill by accident. Especially if it ACTS like a cat, doing things like running under your feet while you’re walking, or smothering it or crushing it when it tries to sleep with you. You’d need an enclosure like for a hamster, which defeats the reason to get a cat. Purrs, cuddles, sleep buddy, play with, sit on lap, chase the laser dot, etc.
I would go for the cat the size of a mouse. a horse the size of a cat wouldn’t be ridable so having a riding partner wouldn’t be possible and I would rather keep the awesome adventures for me and the horse to bond. you know, camping, racing, or just a stroll in the woods or beach.
don't get me wrong, a horse the size of a cat would be adorable, but I’d rather have a mouse-sized cat. A mouse-sized cat would be soft and cuddly and I could take it anywhere without notice, so that way I will always have a companion pet on my hands.
Is this a serious/ trick question?
The cat sized horse..I’m allergic to cats, I’m not even a cat person but, I live with one. Many say he is a happy cat. I feed and vet him and he marks me (aggressive head buts and other weird kitty stuff)
Horse people are cat people with more money. Both are pretty temperamental but, a kick will hurt less than being shredded.
I don't even know what to say about the mouse sized cat. I have never had a mouse more than 2 hours so I can’t have an opinion. They didn’t like me much. They were in my garage, eating my bird/dog/deer food. I live trapped them and sent them on their way into the woods. I may be trapping the same 5 over and over.
I would pick a cat sized, rat, A horse sized rat over a real cat or mouse.
A cat the size of a mouse would be incredible.
I could keep it in a little glass box with tons of playthings I built for him using not much of my time.
He can't run away and he knows he depends on me. I can always grab a chair, get a beer, play some Steely Dan or Duran Duran in the background and just sit while I stare at him doing his own thing.
A horse the size of a cat would be practically useless. They aren't as cute as dogs or cats, and the main purpose of horses is being useful for riding and carrying stuff. But I guess if you like horses too much that might be cool.
Ideally, I would have this street cat who has been stalking my house for the past 3 months the size of a mouse.
Cats are perfect the way they are, so I choose the horse. BUT I really, really want a small giraffe :)
I think the mouse-sized cat has already been down the rabbit-hole, and met Alice, who was also mouse-sized. Don’t know where that dang rabbit hole goes, but it veers off all over the place.
Still, if the mouse-sized cat ever found it’s way to the top of the hole and the bole of the tree, he/she/it could come and sit on my shoulder, and I should be nice to it. I would whisper it sweet little nothings, and it would tell long, rambling tales of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, and I would just enjoy the poetry which is A-class.
I wonder if mouse-sized cats remember to brush their whiskers before they go to bed?
I own both a horse and a cat. I would love them no matter what the size!
